The Kyrgyzstan Experience: Tilek's Apple Orchard

 Our hosts brought us to meet a young farmer named Tilek, who, together with his siblings, owns this apple orchard. We had the chance to chat with Tilek and learn more about their experience as we walked around the farm. Last year, they suffered losses because of the extremely low market prices for apples. They hope to receive much-needed support, such as access to cold storage facilities or training on value addition, to help reduce post-harvest losses and improve their income.

We also stopped by his home, where we had the pleasure of meeting his grandmother. She kindly gave us apples from their most recent harvest.
